Elizabeth Estelle Stonger
NORTH CAROLINA -- Police located the vehicle of a missing Cicero-North Syracuse High School graduate in North Carolina. Inside the vehicle, police found an unidentified body wearing clothing that matches the description of Stonger; however, the body has not been positively identified.
Police in North Carolina have been looking for Elizabeth Estelle Stonger, a 2003 graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School, since she was reported missing in mid-October.
The Belmont Police Department reported at the time that Stonger may have been driving a faded burgundy 1998 Chevy Lumina.
On Monday, the Belmont Police Department reported that the 1998 Chevy Lumina was found in a ravine in McDowell County, North Carolina. Officers found the car when investigating an illegal dumping call.
Police say they found a deceased woman in the car; however, police say they do not know if the body is Stronger.
On Tuesday, police reported that the clothing on the body matches the description of what Stonger was last seen wearing. An indentification card belonging to Stronger was also found in the car. The body has not been positively identified.
Officers say the vehicle was positively identified by the registration tag and the vehicle’s VIN.
Stonger was reported missing on October 14 after leaving her job at Wal-Mart. Several agencies have been looking for Stonger in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
Police say special attention was given to the McDowell County area based on information provided by Stonger’s cell phone provider. The last known location of her phone was McDowell County.
