Two Syracuse men are believed to be behind several bank robberies.

Brandon Rothenburgh and James Nicholson, both 34-years-old, are charged with five counts of robbery after federal authorities linked them to a series of bank robberies in Gates and Auburn. The investigation also linked them to a bank robbery at the M&T Bank on Black River Blvd. in Rome.

Rothenburgh and Nicholson were taken into custody by federal authorities in late September 2012.

Rothenburgh pleaded guilty to the M&T Bank Robbery and four other robbery charges. The case against Nicholson is still pending.
