SKANEATELES -- A Skaneateles anti-bullying program called "Be Cool, Not Cruel" began more than twenty years ago, well ahead of the times.

High schoolers present the hands-on program to sixth graders every year. The program has changed with the times, updated to include topics such as cyber bullying.

Educators credit the program with helping to curb bullying in Skaneateles.

One of the program's participants lost a friend who took his own life because of bullying. For him, participating now has extra meaning. 'I feel like if I can affect one person, I've succeeded," said Michael Ranalli. "I just hope I can send a positive message out and prevent horrible things like this from happening in the future."
