Syracuse man charged with DWI after one car crash on Gifford Street

SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police responded to a one car crash that happened at 3:10 this afternoon on the 100 block of Gifford St.

After arriving, police noticed a 2000 Buick Lesabre had gone off the road and hit a tree.

The driver, 34-year-old Patrick Cooper of Syracuse was taken to Upstate Medical University for observation.

Cooper had three 15-year-old female passengers who were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

After an investigation, police say Cooper was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, and three felony charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, one for each child in the vehicle.

Cooper was released on traffic tickets and will appear in Syracuse City Traffic Court at a later date.
