You can get rid of your guns and weapons during a gun buy-back in Ithaca and Tompkins County on January 5th. The program is in response to recent gun violence across the country.

Ithaca Police and Tompkins County Sheriff's Office announced the program Tuesday saying they want to reward citizens for their voluntary surrender of firearms. Participants will get cash on the spot of their weapons, including up to $200 for assault style guns.

You can bring as many guns as you want, but you will only get cash for three. They will accept Ammunition, non-functioning guns, Bb-type guns, air-soft guns, and air-rifles but won't accept cash for them.

The buybacks will be at Ithaca fire Department at 310 West Green Street and Tompkins County Airport Fire and Rescue Building at 72 Brown Road from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
