WEEDSPORT -- The family of Easton Friedel reports the child is suffering from MRSA which experts say can occur in people who have been in hospitals or other health care settings. Easton currently weighs 12.6 pounds, and has been in and out of the hospital in recent weeks. Easton suffers from a rare skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa, which causes painful blisters.
The MRSA trouble spot appears to be on Easton's left leg where doctors took a recent culture of his skin. The family says, "We know he will kick this infection because he's one tough little boy - but please keep him in your prayers."
