Ithaca Police officer on patrol involved in car accident

ITHACA -- An Ithaca police officer on patrol was involved in a motor vehicle accident at 10:26 AM on Tuesday.

The Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance came to the scene and to help and provide medical care for an injured pedestrian.  The pedestrian was transported to Cayuga Medical Center due to a minor injury to an ankle and a complaint of head pain.  The pedestrian was was treated and released.

The officer that was driving the marked patrol car, Officer Amanda Van Houten, was not hurt.

The accident is under investigation, which is standard protocol.
