It's the time of year to get college financial aid applications going, and NY's Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) has organized area financial aid experts to help students and their parents get them done on time.

Key, is filling out the FAFSA, the standardized federal form that's the first step to virtually all aid. LaSonya Griggs, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at SUNY Upstate Medical University, says that all Syracuse city high schools have 'form information nights' in January, open to all area residents for free.  A full list of resources is at www.hesc.ny.gov

There are lots of help events, including evening sessions on how to fill out the FAFSA forms, check the website for the events calendar  In addition, there is a phone chatline open Noon-5pm, Monday - Friday at 800 808-1790.
