OSWEGO -- An Oswego man is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the U.S. Postal Office.

Federal prosecutors say 37-year-old John Gibson III was a postal customer when he stole more than $33,000 of government property. They say he bought 91 postal money orders with checks drawn on closed checking accounts.

Gibson was arraigned in federal court and released on his own recognizance. He faces a maximum of 10 years in jail, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years supervised release.
