SYRACUSE -- Forbes Magazine recently named Syracuse University freshman Alex Kline to its '30 Under 30' Sports list. Kline, an 18-year-old New Jersey native, is the founder of The Recruit Scoop, a website dedicated to college basketball recruiting that he started at age 15.
Other notable names on the Forbes list include Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas and Miami Heat forward LeBron James.
"When they [Forbes] told me, I was pretty excited about it," said Kline. "You know, now everyone thinks I make a really good living, but I'm just a college student eating dorm food."

Kline's website gives exposure to hopeful college basketball players, attracting coaches' attention. Kline, a student in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, has already been profiled by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NBC's Today Show, and Sports Illustrated.
But the exposure is not what drives him to succeed. "I'm just in it to see everyone do well," Kline said. "That's my approach to it. It's not about the money on the side. It's not about anything like that. It's just about seeing people do well."
Kline explained that he is the first of his age to break into the world of online recruiting websites. "Most of the guys I'm competing with are now in their 30s, or they've been through college and they've got their degrees," Kline explained.
Looking to the future, Kline's ultimate goal is simple. "I just want to be as good as I can be. I just want to reach my full potential and just make my dad really proud of me."
