AUBURN, CAYUGA COUNTY -- The man who prosecutors say strangled his ex-girlfriend while his young daughter was in the house does not want the deal prosecutors were offering. The Auburn Citizen newspaper reports David McNamera, 36, rejected a deal that would have promised him a sentence of 22 years to life in prison.

McNamara is charged with killing Katie Socci in her Auburn home in June 2011. His trial is set to start March 18 in Auburn.

After her death friends and familystarted this annual fundraiser in Socci's honor. You can also click here to watch Alex Dunbar's report on how Socci's parents adjusted to their new role, raising their grandaughter.
