SYRACUSE (AP) -- A 20-year-old suburban Syracuse man is expected to be sentenced to two years in prison for accidentally shooting a friend with a rifle.
The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Michael Hallock pleaded guilty to second-degree assault for recklessly discharging the rifle at 20-year-old Thomas Devine as they were playing around with some of Devine's weapons, including a 7.62 rifle, in his town of Geddes home in November. Witnesses say that Hallock and Devine pointed the 7.62 at each other several times.
Devine recovered from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Hallock agreed to the plea deal with prosecutors on Wednesday. He's scheduled to be sentenced on March 14.
