SYRACUSE -- 35-year-old Gilbert Grainger, of Syracuse, was arrested for allegedly robbing the Key bank on West Genesee Street last Thursday.

Police say Grainger handed the teller a threatening note demanding money. He ran from the bank across West Genesee Street and behind a muffler business where he ditched a coat and a significant amount of the money he stole from the bank.

Forensic evidence police say they collected at the crime scene was analyzed by the Onondaga County Center for Forensic Science and lead detectives to the identity of the suspect.

Grainger was arrested by Detectives from The Syracuse Police Criminal Investigations Division Tuesday morning at his residence.

Grainger is charged with third degree robbery and being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center pending his arraignment in Syracuse City Court.
