ONEIDA COUNTY -- Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Taberg woman and charged her with Leandra’s Law for aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child less than 15 in the vehicle after several people reported her erratic driving at about 8pm on Route 69 in the Town of Lee.

Deputies say 26-year-old Danielle R. Szablewski was driving her Jeep on Route 69, swerving in and out of her lane before she pulled into the New England-style Market.

An off-duty City of Rome police officer saw what happened and confronted Szablewski in the parking lot. The officer said he had reason to believe she was intoxicated, so he called for on-duty police.

Szablewski had a 12-year-old passenger in the front seat, which led to the Leandra’s Law charge, as well as charges of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated unlicensed operation, as she had a suspended license for a pending DWI charge.

Szablewski is being held in Oneida County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
