Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner is not backing down in an escalating dispute with Governor Andrew Cuomo.  The New York Times has published an opinion piece in its February 14th print edition.

In the article Mayor Miner suggest the governor's proposal to allow cities to put off pension payments for decades reckless.  She writes, "it was such fiscal recklessness that plunged New York City into a fiscal crisis in the mid-1970's."

Mayor Miner concludes the in depth letter by stressing the importance of Albany finding a lasting solution to budget problems. She writes, "We mayors have proposals on labor arbitration, pension rules, budget gimmicks and taxes.  What we don't have, yet, is the leadership to arrive at a consensus on what will work. For that we need the governor."
