UTICA (AP) -- A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for strangling a mother of four whose body was found behind a central New York fire station six years ago.

Craig Ingersoll of Utica was sentenced Tuesday in Oneida County Court. A jury convicted Ingersoll in November of second-degree murder for killing of 29-year-old Jennifer Bennett of Utica during a sexual assault.

Prosecutors said Ingersoll strangled her after paying her for sex in January 2007 and then dumped her body at the Deerfield Fire Department north of the city. Her snow-covered body was found by a group of people sledding behind the firehouse.

Ingersoll was charged in March after authorities matched his DNA to the crime scene.
