Syracuse man charged for pointing handgun at police detectives

SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man has been charged with pointing a gun at police after an incident on December 18, according to a release by U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian.

Hartunian says that 28-year-old Terrell Wright pointed a gun at two Syracuse Police Detectives from the Gang Violence Task Force and then ran. He was caught a few minutes later. Police recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun after the arrest.

Wright is charged with assaulting two detectives, use and carry of a handgun during the assault and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, according to the release.

Wright faces up to 27 years in prison and a maximum fine of $750,000.
