Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc, announced this afternoon it has entered into an agreement with Barrington Broadcasting to purchase its 18 television stations, including WSTM-NBC3 and WSTQ-CW6 in Syracuse.
As part of the agreement Sinclair will operate or provide sales services for another six stations, including WTVH-CBS5 in Syracuse. WTVH-CBS5 is part of the CNY Central Media Group along with WSTM-NBC3 and WSTQ-CW6. Barrington Broadcasting currently operates WTVH-CBS5 under a Shared Services Agreement with Granite Broadcasting.
Sinclair also announced it will sell WSYT-FOX68 in Syracuse. WSYT-FOX68 operates WNYS-MY43 through a Local Marketing Agreement.
The agreements are subject to approval by the Federal Communications Commission. Sinclair anticipates it will close on the deals before the end of June.
