OSWEGO -- Six elementary school students were injured in a school bus accident in Oswego Monday morning.

The crash happened at the intersection of West Fifth and Utica Streets early in the morning when a pick-up truck hit the Oswego City School Bus. The driver of the truck was ticketed for imprudent speed and failure to stop for a red light.

Five of the students were from Kingsford Park and one was from the Oswego Community Christian School. They were transported to Oswego Hospital hospital for evaluation and observation. The school district tells CNYCentral the injuries were all minor.

There were 27 students onboard the bus when the crash happened. The Oswego City School District bus was heavily damaged in the accident and had to be towed from the scene.
