LITTLE FALLS (AP) -- A man paroled from prison last month is back behind bars after authorities say he led police on a 40-mile chase in the Mohawk Valley.

State police tell the Daily Gazette of Schenectady that 22-year-old Kyle Edick of Little Falls was driving in Gloversville late Sunday night when a trooper tried to pull him over for speeding.

Police say Edick refused to stop and narrowly missed colliding with a sheriff's deputy's patrol car. Officials say he eventually pulled over in his hometown in Herkimer County after police were able to reach him on his cell phone.

State parole officials say Edick was paroled Feb. 22. He had been sentenced in 2009 for setting a friend on fire during a prank gone awry.
