NORTH HUDSON, NY (AP) -- State police say a man has been shot and killed after leading police on a chase in the Adirondacks along an interstate highway.
Local media outlets report that the unidentified suspect was shot by state police after a pursuit Tuesday night.
State police aren't providing details about the shooting Wednesday morning. But a state police officer told the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that the suspect was shot after leaving his car and assaulting a trooper.
The incident started in Schroon Lake when troopers attempted to pull the suspect's vehicle over for a traffic violation on Route 9. Police say the vehicle chase ended miles later on I-87, also known as the Adirondack Northway.
Police said more information would be released later Wednesday.
