WATERTOWN -- A Watertown man will spend the next 15 years in prison for being a three-time convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

39-year-old Shawn Adams was sentenced in Federal Court on Friday.

The charges stem from an incident in November 2010 when Adams entered a victim's home through an open third floor window armed with a gun. Police later found him asleep on a couch with a gun case near the window. Adams told police the Remington semi-automatic weapon was his gun.

He was previously convicted in Saint Lawrence County in 1994 on a burglary charge, in Jefferson County in 1998 on an attempted burglary charge and in Suffolk County in 2001 on an attempted burglary charge.
