LIVERPOOL -- Attention Liverpool High School students! Are you thinking of skipping school this week? Well, the school district says you should think again.

Liverpool Superintendent Dr. Richard Johns sent an email Tuesday afternoon advising parents and the community at large about rumors of possible “skip days” for Liverpool High School seniors. Those days are rumored to be Wednesday, March 12 and Friday, March 15.

In the email, Johns makes it clear that the district “does not sanction any student skip days,” and any senior who does not show up for school on those days without a note from a parent “will be subject to receiving a discipline referral and subsequent consequences.”

The email concludes with the district asking parents to talk to their kids about coming to class on scheduled school days.

Here is a copy of the email:

I have been contacted by the Liverpool High School administration regarding the rumor that Wednesday, March 12, and Friday, March 15, are going to be skip days for LHS seniors.

It is important for our parents and guardians to understand that the Liverpool Central School District does not sanction any student skip days.

Any senior not in attendance on Wednesday or Friday without a note from a parent will be subject to receiving a discipline referral and subsequent consequences.

We are always concerned about the well being of our students when unstructured and unsupervised activities are planned en masse. Through communication and partnering with you at home, we hope to keep all of our students safe.

The high school does notify parents and guardians when a student is absent from school; however, in an effort to be proactive, we ask that you speak with your son or daughter in advance and communicate the expectation that all students be present during a scheduled school day.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

Sincerely,

Dr. Richard N. Johns
Superintendent of Schools
