Two men plead guilty to killing Bronx man in Tompkins County in 2011

ITHACA (AP) -- Two men have pleaded guilty in the fatal shooting of a New York City man at a central New York apartment complex in 2011.

Local media outlets report that 35-year-old Lawrence Beauford of Ithaca and 49-year-old Gary Lowe of Cortland this week in Tompkins County to charges stemming from the killing of Francisco Santiago of the Bronx.

Police in Ithaca say Lowe shot the 25-year-old Santiago on Dec. 1, 2011 while trying to rob him of drugs and money. He pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree manslaughter. Beauford, Lowe's son-in-law, pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy.

Beauford, who's already in prison for a 2010 robbery, faces a 1 ½-to-3-year sentence for his role in Santiago's death. Sentencing is scheduled for March 22.
