A Western NY man is the first to be arrested under New York's new, tougher gun law.

Benjamin Wassell, from Silver Creek in Chautauqua County, is charged with trying to sell two semi-automatic assault weapons, including an AR-15 rifle, as well as nearly 300 rounds of ammunition and 6 magazines, to undercover state police.   One of those undercover officers reportedly told Wassel that he was a convicted felon.

Wassell, who is 33, was released on his own recognizance after being charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor under the new SAFE Act.
