ONONDAGA HILL -- Onondaga Community College has selected a new President.

Dr. Casey Crabill was unanimously selected by the OCC Board of Trustees and will become the school's 8th President. She will begin her term on July 1.

Dr. Crabill currently serves as President of Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg, New Jersey. "Dr. Crabill is a talented administrator with nearly two decades of leadership experience in higher education and a proven ability to connect with students, faculty, and surrounding communities to uplift the colleges she has served," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.

At RVCC, Dr. Crabill set student enrollment records, obtained a $4.6 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to train workers in new career paths and earned national awards for its service learning program. She previously served as president of the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California; as acting president and dean of Learning and Student Development at Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson, Connecticut; and division chair for Academic Development and Learning Support at Dundalk Community College in Dundalk, Maryland. "Dr. Crabill's more than 15 years of experience as a community college president and 25 years in higher education, which began in the SUNY system, will be a tremendous asset to the College, its students, faculty and staff, and our entire community as we advance the institution's ambitious Strategic Plan," said Allen Naples, Chair of the Onondaga Board of Trustees. "The Board of Trustees is grateful to the search committee and the campus community for their efforts in reaching this very important milestone in College history."

Dr. Crabill began her career at the State University of New York at Albany. She earned her B.A. in English from Skidmore College; and an M.S. in Teaching English as a Second Language and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, both from the State University of New York at Albany.

Onondaga Interim President Margaret M. "Meg" O'Connell will serve until June 30, 2013. She was appointed by the Board to serve as Interim President last year following the departure of former President Dr. Debbie Sydow, who is now serving as the President of Richard Bland College in Virginia.
