LIVERPOOL -- Just days after the tragic murder of Lori Bresnahan, a pay-it-forward event is being organized in her honor to her family.

Susan Mastine Fix, an art teacher in the Liverpool School District and friend of Lori's, is spearheading the fund, called "Reach for the Moon." The fund is designed to help Lori's survivors achieve their goals and thrive in the future.

Mastine Fix is designing artwork and t-shirts to help raise money, and planning is underway for a fundraiser at Syracuse's Museum of Young Art. The fundraiser is designed to give Liverpool students an opportunity to create artwork in Bresnahan's honor.

A contest is also taking place to help name our moon, the only moon in our solar system without a name. Donations, along with a name suggestion, are now being taken. They can be sent to: MOYA, PO Box 12152, Syracuse, NY, 13204.

Bresnahan and Mastine Fix were already planning a moon-naming fundraiser for Liverpool students before the tragedy. The fundraiser is now being transformed to honor Bresnahan's memory and allow people to help the family.

"Everyone wants to do something," said Susan Mastine Fix. "And, right now, there's very little anyone can do. So, this is a way that people can help and pay it forward. They can do something to feel better about the tragedy."

Mastine Fix said the fundraiser at the Museum of Young Art is tentatively scheduled for April, and naming suggestions and donations for the moon-naming contest are expected to be collected through May.
