SYRACUSE -- It's never too early to get excited for the 2013 New York State Fair. For the first time ever, New Yorkers are getting the chance to choose the theme.
Today the ten theme finalists were announced:
- Come Relish in the Riches of NY
- Fresh, Fun, Local
- Grandeur at its Greatest
- Grounds for Discovery
- Harvest of an Empire
- Harvest the Feeling
- Home Grown and World Class
- Sharing the Bounty and Pride of NY
- We Grow the Best for All the Rest
- Where Culture Meets Agriculture
The new State Fair Director Tom Ryan made the announcement after more than 500 suggestions were submitted from across the state. Submissions had to sent in by March 15 and today Ryan and the State Agriculture Commissioner narrowed it down to ten.
The voting is now open for New Yorkers to choose this year's state fair theme. You can vote on the New York State Fair's Facebook page by clicking on the "poll" icon on the right side of the page. You can also email your vote to statefairideas@agriculture.ny.gov.
The winning theme will be announced on April 2.
The 2013 Great New York State Fair will run from August 22 until September 2, 2013 at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
