Man arrested in connection with Ithaca shooting

ITHACA -- Ithaca Police say that 22-year-old Tyrell Mccargo, of Cortland, was arrested at the Police Department Headquarters around 8:05 p.m. Monday in connection with a shooting that took place on Oak Avenue on January 29.

On January 29, around 1:26 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of the 100 block of Oak Avenue. Around 2:05 a.m., there was a report of a man with a gun shot wound at 503 Hancock Street.

Police say that when they arrived on Hancock Street, a victim was conscious, alert and walking.  The victim told police he was shot in the buttocks by an unknown man in the area of the 100 block of Oak Avenue. The victim is not a Cornell student.

Mccargo was charged with second degree assault. He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and Mccargo was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

Mccargo is expected back in court on February 6, 2013.
