The Syracuse School board has narrowed its options for a plans for the first phase of the city's school renovation project. Both options under consideration do not include any renovation funds for Blodgett Elementary School. In a presentation to the Joint Schools Construction Board program manager Gilbane told the board it would be to costly to renovate Blodgett, which is one of the oldest schools in the city. The school district recommends using the $130 million to completely renovate Fowler and Dr. Weeks Elementary and upgrade Clary Middle, Shea and H.W Smith schools. Central Tech, which was left off of earlier options, would add on six classrooms for a "tech wing" and a gym. Another plan presented by program manager Gilbane, leaves out Central Tech and instead calls for major renovations at Fowler, Dr. Weeks and H.W Smith, with basic upgrades at Clary and Bellevue. The Syracuse School board plans to select a final renovation option on Thursday, November 20th.
