Congressman-elect Dan Maffei is headed to Washington Sunday. The Democrat has been there many times as a Congressional staffer, but this time he is the one getting ready to serve as an elected official. During his trip, Maffei will take part in an orientation program for new congressmen. Spokesman Mike Whyland says Maffei is also expected to meet with the man he's replacing, retiring Representative Jim Walsh, sometime in the next week.
On election night, Maffei defeated Republican Dale Sweetland and Green Populist candidate Howie Hawkins for the 25th district seat.
