SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY -- At Syracuse University, today was the Transgender Day of Remembrance honoring individuals who have lost their lives since 1970 due to violence against transgender people.
The Transgender Day of Remembrance started 10 years ago at the University. It is an hour long service, including personal reflections and shared poetry.
It carried a little more weight this year, following the death of Latiesha Green, also known as Moses Cannon, in Syracuse.
The 22- year-old was shot and killed last Friday.
Today, Latiesha's death was on minds of many people who stopped in at Hendricks Chapel.
Police have a suspect in custody but no hate crime charges have been filed in the case yet. That will be up to a grand jury.
