With the arrival of winter weather here in Central New York, some last minute drivers looking for snow tires are going to have to wait.
There has been a run on tires since the first reports of snow a couple of weeks ago.At Kost Tire on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse they have been trying to keep up with the demand for snow tires. To make matters worse, new tires are in short supply because of new regulations in Quebec that force every driver there to have four snow tires on their car.
Chris MacNeil of Kost Tires in DeWitt says that last two weeks have been insane. He says right now, for a snow tire swap over, he is booked every 30 minutes right through December 20th.
And at many shops around Central New York, you have to have an appointment to get in. MacNeil says many of his competitors are also in the same situation.
