Police investigate the scene on East Fayette Street
SYRACUSE -- Updated at 12:05 pm:
We've just learned the identity of the woman killed in a stabbing Tuesday afternoon. Syracuse police now say 18-year-old Yeisha Howard of Syracuse was stabbed to death around 4:20pm Tuesday.
It happened in the lobby of 1815 East Fayette Street. Howard was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. Detective are interviewing witnesses and they've made no arrests in the case yet.

Syracuse Police say a 19-year-old woman was stabbed to death late this afternoon in the lobby of a Syracuse apartment building. The woman was apparently involved in an altercation in the lobby of the Sunset Terrace Apartments before the stabbing. The building is located in the 1800 block of East Fayette Street.
The victim was taken to University Hospital where she died a short time later. Police have not released her name pending notification of family members.
Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department says they are still in the early stages of the investigation. He says the Crime Unit is at the scene of the stabbing and officers are actively canvassing the building. Sgt. Connellan is asking anyone with information on the stabbing to call Syracuse CID at 442-5222.

Syracuse Police now confirm one person was killed in a stabbing on East Fayette Street. Officers say the victim was a 19-year-old female. Officers were called to the scene around 4:00pm today. Stay with Action News and CNYcentral.com for more information as it comes in.
