Action News reporter Jim Kenyon has learned that the building is a two-family house, with a family of four living on one side and a single woman living on the other side. Everyone who was inside the house at the time of the fire was able to make it out unharmed.
We are told that the preliminary cause of the fire is a child playing with a lighter. The house was gutted by the fire. Several blocks of Bridge Street have been closed off to allow fire crews room to work, and the neighborhood is currently without electrical power.

An Oswego County home which was once a stop on the Underground Railroad was destroyed after a fire Wednesday morning. Accorsing to eyewitness reports, the building appears to have been gutted and the roof has collapsed.
Police shut down a couple of blocks of West Bridge Street while fire department personnel fought the fire. The fire is said to have caused some damage to the neighboring building which houses the Wholesale Diamond Exchange.
