SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse City School District Joint School Construction Board has unanimously approved a compromise plan that calls for renovations or repairs to six district buildings.
The highlight of the plan is the complete renovation of Fowler High School and the Central Tech school, specifically the back building which is currently in use. The older former high school building adjacent to Central Tech is not part of the renovation plan.
Other schools receiving some renovation money include the Dr. Weeks and H.W. Smith schools. The Clay and Shea schools will receive smaller repairs.
Renovations to Blodgett Elementary School are not included in the approved budget. However, $2.5 million has been set aside for additional planning for the Blodgett school in 2009.
The plan also calls for the school district to look into potential consolidation along with future renovation projects.
The total cost of the district's approved renovation budget is $136.5 million.
