NORTH SYRACUSE -- Voting will take place today in the sprawling North Syracuse School District. Voters are being asked to approve two separate propositions. The first calls for 1.6 million dollars to be spent on a new roof for the Lakeshore Elementary School in Cicero. That won't cost local taxpayers any money. The cost will be covered by state aid.

A second proposition asks voters to approve the purchase 4.9 acres of land adjacent to C-NS High School, and for roof repairs to the building. The $585,000 cost of both items will not cost taxpayers any local funds. Money will also come from state aid. The district wants to purchase the adjacent land, because a a community committee looking at the districts enrollment, has proposed moving ninth grade classes to the high school. The district would need the land to expand the high school at a future date, if it goes ahead with the committee's recommendations.

Voting takes place from 9am to 9pm. Residents who live north of Route 481 can vote at Cicero Elementary School on Route 31. Residents who live south of Route 481 can vote at the district offices located on West Taft Road.
