KIRKVILLE -- A school bus with children from the East Syracuse-Minoa school district slid off the road and into a ditch this morning just before 10:00. The accident happened on Roberts Road near Kirkville Road in Kirkville. There were no serious injuries to the middle school students on board the bus although several ambulances were dispatched.
The bus went off the road as it tried to pass a flatbed truck that was unloading materials on Roberts Road. Police are reluctant to say weather caused the crash. Witnesses on the scene say the shoulder of the road was obscured due to the plowing of the heavy snow.
A second bus came to the scene to transport the children to school once they were evacuated from the bus. No tickets were issued.
