SYRACUSE --
Eric Devendorf's return to the Carrier Dome Tuesday night was a welcome sight for most Syracuse University basketball fans. Devendorf put up 20 points in the Big East opener for the Orange in a win over Seton Hall. The 21-year-old Michigan native was facing a possible suspension for the entire season due to an altercation with a female student last month.
Jeff Diana is one of those fans glad to see Devendorf back with the team. Diana thinks the original sentence by the Student Judicial Board was much too severe. "A lot of it I think is allegation, he said-she said stuff. So for him to come back it's a good thing for us," Diana says.
Eric Hughes, from Horseheads, also thinks Devendorf was being unfairly singled out by the board. "Now that the truth is coming out about what really happened I think they did the right thing changing the suspension," Hughes says.
Before he could be reinstated, Devendorf had to serve 40 hours of community service. Some fans like Colleen Moore of Liverpool, think Devendorf is getting off easy because he is a star athlete. "I think being very good at sports you have pull right or wrong." Moore says.
