CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Multiple strong and weak bands of lake effect snow continue to plague portions of Central New York with fast changing weather conditions throughout the day.  During the morning, sections of Oswego and northern Oneida counties received about 12” of snow in a short duration of time.  Those heavy snow bands have now moved south into sections of Central New York.  An extremely well organized lake snow band which originated from Lake Erie moved cross much of the Finger Lakes, southern Tier and all the way north to the Thruway at times earlier this morning, has also moved southbound towards the southern sections of the state.  Accumulations of 2 to 8” of snow were common as of mid-morning.

During the rest of the day, we continue to expect quick paced changes.  Expect multiple west-to-east orientated squall bands to continue to shift south.  In addition, a new spray of snow showers will probably form southeast of Lake Ontario during the afternoon and evening.  New snowfall between 10:30am and 5pm will range between 1 and 4” across most of the area.  During the night, the atmospheric conditions to produce more lake effect snow will get worse.  However, we will probably be able to receive another 1-4” of snow in spots southeast of Lake Ontario overnight.
