Obama inauguration editions sell out
SYRACUSE --
The newspaper machine outside Syracuse's Post-Standard was sold out most of the day.
At Rocky's on North Salina Street, the corner that usually sells papers from all over the Northeast, there were only empty racks. They had a run on papers this morning, with customers lined up outside, waiting for the out-of-town deliveries. "Some of them were upset," says Rocky's Jack Milne. "It's history. Everyone wants a copy."
While we visited this afternoon, several people came in, still looking. "I can't believe I can't buy a paper here," one regular told us. Another man who came in told us he'd already gotten many of the major papers, but was looking for anything else he could find. He was looking for keepsakes but, also, pointed out "they are gonna be worth money."
Rocky's ordered extra papers, expecting the big demand, but still sold out. The Post-Standard circulation department tells Action News they printed 10,000 extra copies, both Monday and Tuesday.
