Despite the tough economy, people poured into Brewfest Saturday at the State Fairgrounds. It's a way to sample all different kinds of beers, 52 breweries took part. John Hunter, of Syracuse, attended for the first time. "Come out with a couple friends, try some new beers and have a good time," Hunter said.
It is the 13th year for the event which is held the day before the Super Bowl. And despite the tough economy, people are came out to tip back a few. Promoters say pre-sale tickets kept pace with last year and more tickets were bought at the door this year.
"History has shown people sill drink in a bad economy," said Mick Wysochanski, promoter of the event.
Those who attended say, even at $30, the walk in rate was still a good deal.
"For me spending the money on a good time with good friends supporting the local breweries that's the best way to do it," said Kathleen O'Neil.
The breweries appreciate the support and the exposure.
"This is a good time for all of us," says Greg Niedzialek of Saranac Brewery. "We don't make money on it, it's a giveaway, we're all out here for the same thing."
People attending Brewfest got to sample beers from around the state.
