BALDWINSVILLE -- A Baldwinsville woman is a million dollars richer today. Suzanne Stockin was buying her groceries at the Wegmans on Oswego Road in Liverpool last month when she thought she'd pick up a few lottery tickets. She put her $10 into the machine, and the first one she scratched off made her an instant millionaire.
Stockin was presented her check Tuesday afternoon, and at least for now, she says there are no sports cars or extravagant vacations in the plans. She'll pay for her son's education and probably splurge on a new toy for herself like a boat. Other than that, she'll keep living her life like she always did and continue working at Wegmans where she's worked for 21 years. "I love Wegmans, I love my job, I just couldn't picture myself staying home," said Stockin.
"We were very happy for her," said Stockin's mother Jane Pearse. "She is very deserving of it. She works hard and she wanted to send her son to college and now she can." The most shocking part about the whole thing were her odds of winning - one in 2.52 million.
