WCNY is also impacted by the state's financial troubles. The public broadcast station will get nearly $300,000 less in state aid. President and CEO Robert Daino tells Action News it could potentially affect local production activities. They also want to relocate to downtown Syracuse near the Westside but that's dependent on funding.
"We remain committed and we still have quite a ways to go to raise the $23 million," Daino said. "We have around $5 million now and WCNY is committed to raising around $6 million more on our own but the rest of that money either needs to come from state grants or federal grants or other mechanisms."
Meantime, Daino says membership at the station remains steady and has even gone up.
