SYRACUSE --

You won't get an argument that we have lots of wintry weather here in Central New York.  So, what better place to test out how well weatherizing works?

In Syracuse this morning, there was a ribbon cutting for a home that looks like it's not finished.  Actually, it's a test lab to be run by the Center of Excellence.  It will look at how insulation and other forms of weatherizing work for energy efficiency.

Its formal name is the Buleing Envelope Systems Test Laboratory and its funded, in part, with federal money.

This lab will measure temperature, moisture and air movement with different kinds of insulation and barriers installed, and the information will be passed along to people who make the products we use in our homes.
