SYRACUSE -- Vera House is giving survivors of sexual abuse a unique voice. In their Clothesline Project, they have more than 600 survivors “airing” their dirty laundry and its all part of a healing process.
More than 600 survivors have decorated t-shirts expressing their feelings. The shirts will be shown in several areas, including a new place, Clinton Square. Vera House wanted to actually have a place this year where the shirts could blow in the breeze. If you’d like to check out this power display, there are a few places you can go.
Starting April 16th and 17th, you can head to Onondaga County Community College from 8:30am – 4:30 pm. Clinton Square will show off the shirts April 18th from 10am until 6 pm. The shirts will, also, be on display at Great Northern Mall during normal mall hours, 10am – 9:30pm.
Because there was such a turn out with the shirts, smaller showings have been set up. They include Laci’s Café, Syracuse Cultural Workers, St. Joe’s School of Nursing, McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Site, Planned Parenthood, Huntington Family Center, and Elmcrest Children’s Center.
