NYS FAIRGROUNDS -- Animal lovers from across Central New York visited the Ark Angels Animal Rescue Expo at the NYS Fairgrounds Saturday. From snakes to lizards and exotic cats, people had the opportunity to see, touch and learn about the pets and the rescue process.
Chris Deverso, the owner of Rocky the snakehead fish, was on hand to share his knowledge of owning an invasive species. Deverso purchased Rocky ten years ago, before snakehead fish were illegal in New York State. The Department of Environmental Conservation wants to kill Rocky and has tried to take the fish away from Deverso. Deverso’s goal at the Expo is to alert people about the law and owning an exotic pet.
The Expo was organized by MaxMan Reptile Rescue and supported by local rescue groups.
