NEW YORK -- A New York congressman says he stands by remarks that Muslim Americans find offensive.
Rep. Pete King claimed Friday on MSNBC that few Muslim Americans come forward to cooperate with law enforcers.
According to King, there's never been a Department of Homeland Security report that says, "look out for mosques" or "look out for Islamic terrorists in our country."
The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations calls King's comments "bigoted." It's urging other elected officials to repudiate them.
King is the ranking Republican on the Homeland Security Committee. He stood by his remarks in an interview Sunday.
The Long Island politician says he'll decide on a Senate run by the end of the summer.
