SYRACUSE -- Action News has obtained new court papers in the case of a Liverpool man accused of killing his wife and then dumping her body in the Hudson Valley.
Investigators say two men unwittingly helped Alex Martinez lift his wife's body into the back of his vehicle in the parking lot of their apartment complex. In depositions released Tuesday morning, Martinez's neighbor says he and a friend were working on a car when a man approached them and asked for help lifting something into his truck. In the documents the neighbor says, "the thing he wanted us to lift was in a used off-white colored kids pack-n-play, maybe four feet by three feet, and was wrapped in darker colored blankets."
The neighbor's friend told police "we all three lifted it into the bed of the truck. It was at this point that it seemed extremely heavy to me, a couple hundred pounds."
Martinez is accused of killing his wife Angela Harris on Saturday. Investigators say Martinez admitted to slamming Harris' head against the wall of their apartment, then choked her to death. Prosecutors say he then loaded her body into his car to drive to the Beacon Reservoir in the Hudson Valley village of Fishkill.
Martinez is currently in the Onondaga County jail without bail.
