(AP) -- A former New York lawmaker who resigned from a six-figure job on the state parole board is now serving time for trying to set up a sexual tryst with two little girls.
Chris Ortloff of Plattsburgh resigned from the parole board after his October arrest in a state police sting at a suburban Albany motel. He admitted that he repeatedly emailed and called someone he believed was the mother of 11- and 12-year-old sisters to arrange a sexual liaison with the girls.
The 61-year-old former state Assemblyman surrendered Thursday to begin his prison sentence, although he won't be formally sentenced until August. His conviction carries a minimum 10-year sentence and a maximum of life in prison.
Prosecutors are expected to recommend a reduced sentence as part of the negotiated plea.
